Lisa B. Stafford

Ms. Stafford currently serves as the Federation’s Operations Manager. In this role, she provides administrative and financial support to assist the President in daily operations. 

Ms. Stafford retired from the State of Ohio with 33 years’ experience in January 2020. She began her public employment as a High School Intern in 1984 with the Ohio Department of Development. Upon graduation, she enlisted and spent 7 years in the Ohio Army National Guard as a Personnel Records Specialist. She has over 25 years of administrative/management experience with such agencies as the Ohio Public Works Commission, Ohio Commission on Minority Health, and lastly with the Ohio Department of Medicaid where she served as the Business Service Manager responsible for the building operations prior to retiring. She has extensive experience managing federal contracts and grants ranging from $150,000 to $1 million. Her experience includes overseeing several years of biennium budgets within state government ranging from $2 million to $20 million. 

In 2010, she officially created How About That! Design and Consulting which started out as a graphic design business that later matured to providing nonprofit organizations and small businesses with branding assistance, grants/proposal writing and monitoring, and establishing administrative and financial tools to manage their operations and resources. 

Lisa consults with for-profit and not-for-profit organizations offering virtual administrative support, webinar hosting/monitoring, business branding and other assistance to ensure their business is operating sufficiently. She has extensive knowledge in grant proposal writing, graphic design, and other technical duties around board development, foster care, head start training, virtual presentations, social media, branding, and client recognition initiatives. 

In addition to her public service and personal consulting, Ms. Stafford is one of seven founding members of the National Association of State Offices of Minority Health (NASOMH). NASOMH was created to be a national advocate for the established State Offices of Minority Health throughout the nation. From conception of NASOMH in 2005, she has served as advisory board member and the fiduciary agent for this organization. Her roles include contract negotiating and monitoring; accounts receivable/payable; depositing and monthly reconciliation of accounts; annual reporting of financials to Internal Revenue Service, Secretary of State and State Treasurer. 

 She is very active in her community volunteering at various social service agencies such as The Reeb Center, Carrie Garnes Food Pantry, YWCA Family Center, Ronald McDonald House and local kinship family support groups; she is a founding member of the Hicks Harris Ferguson Multiple Myeloma Symposium (Columbus, Ohio), a member of the Ohio Grandparents Kinship Coalition. 

 Ms. Stafford holds an undergraduate degree in Organizational Leadership from Franklin University (Ohio) and a graduate degree in Public Administration from Walden University (Maryland). She is a proud mother of an adult daughter and resides in Columbus, Ohio.
